Slow Cooker Meals & a True Story

My life has been crazy.

I might have just lost my mind.

Lemme tell you a true story.

Picture this…..

6:30 am and no coffee.

I have a headache.

Hovering over my dog who has a cold, making sure he eats some food so I can shove his antibiotics down his throat.

Twittling his pill in my fingers, just waiting, for him to take a few bites.

Did I mention I had not had my coffee yet and had a headache.

Walked myself over the the cabinet.

Poured myself some water.

AND. TOOK. MY. DOGS. PILL.

I put my dogs pill in my mouth and swallowed.

Like all the way down into my stomach.

Seriously, did you get that?

Me, a human with no body fur to speak off, took my dogs pill.

I stood there in shock, wondering if I had the nerve to make myself puke.

I decided I didn’t want to stick a toothbrush down my throat at 6:30 in the morning and prayed the pill would make me sick.

I obviously survived my little momentary lapse of reasoning, it was just an antibiotic.

You know you have some serious issues when your takes a dogs medication.

For real, my kids have stollen my brain and obviously what little bit I have left does not function without caffeine.

Sooooo, needless to say life has been a bit crazy around here.

I have been relying on my little slow cooker for some dinner time sanity.

Kinda strange as much as I use my slow cooker I don’t have more recipes here..

I am sure all of you have an awesome slow cooker recipe, right?

  1. Oh no! I hope you are OK – I think we’ve all done silly things like that but I’ll admit I’ve never taken doggy meds.
Hope you get some time to rest 🙂

  2. I’m sorry to laugh, but that story just made my day SO MUCH BETTER. Thank you for sharing.

  3. Ha-I am laughing so hard. That cracked me up because I do stupid stuff like that too out of just being too, crazy busy. If you grow a tail, let me know. I want to see it. It’s harvest season for us so the crock pot is out…there is no time for anything else!!!

  4. Bwahahaha! I am so glad I am not the only one who does things like that! Thank you for making my morning. Love my crockpot and am always on the look out for new recipes. Just found your blog and I have book marked it in my iPad. Love your sense of humor.

  5. LOL! I loved this post, and I’m sure the antibiotics only killed dog germs, lol. 🙂 Those pork chops look fantastic~ I’m going to have to try them this weekend. Thanks for making me smile as always.

Goodness! You really did have one heck of a morning.
Not to be mean, but you did have me laughing at your pill-poping *fun*…..happy to know there are other people out there who do make mistakes and aren’t afraid to say so. 😀

I happen to LOVE my crockpot, it’s my best kitchen-appliance ever!
I have ooddles of gadgets to play with in my kitchen, but my crockpot has a place of honor.
Nothing has beat it so far, though I will admit my pressure cooker is pretty neat too.
Looking forward to Sunday, plan on making your slow cooker BBQ Chicken Sandwiches, they look yummy enough for football fun!

    Have a great weekend!

  7. Wow, yeah, haven’t done that–yet. And….any barking? How are you feeling? 😉 Hope you don’t start sniffing people or anything.

I love using my slow cooker, I just need to come up with more recipes for it. Your list has some really good ones!

  13. What?? You mean there’s another lady out there wondering who hired their children to run us into the Crazy House? LOL! I read your story to my boys…and if you could’ve heard how loud they were laughing…”Oh no, is she okay?”, “No way-No way!!”
My response? “See the crazy you young people cause?” (wink!)
Hope your pup (and you!) are feeling better <3

  14. Oh my goodness. As soon as you wrote “swallowed my dog’s pill” – I burst out laughing, coughed up a little coffee (sorry for the brag) and my co-workers both stared at me like I’d grown an extra head.

    Thanks for the big laugh!

And PS – I can totally relate.
