Nutella Hot Chocolate

All is right in the world when you drink this little concoction of mine.
It will be sure to warm your belly and add cellulite to your hips. Gotta love the Holidays.
My jeans are already getting too tight, but that did not stop me from drinking this whole glass of Nutella Hot Chocolate with homemade whipped cream.
I hope you guys are still not buying the pre-made “whipped topping”. Please tell me your not. Homemade whipped cream takes like 2 minutes to make and tastes FAR superior to anything that comes from a tub or aerosol can. Oh, and it is a million times cheaper!
I hope you enjoy this heavenly beverage!

Serves: 1
Nutella Whipped Cream. Nutella infused homemade hot chocolate with homemade whipped cream
Ingredients
  • Nutella Hot Chocolate
  • 1 cup milk (I use skim)
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp Nutella
  • 1 Tbsp Cocoa
  • Tiny pinch of salt
  • Homemade Whipped Cream
  • 1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 2 Tbsp Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
Hot Chocolate
  1. In a small sauce pan over medium heat, whisk all ingredients together until well blended and hot.
  2. Pour in a cup and top with homemade whipped cream and shaved chocolate.
Homemade Whipped Cream
  1. Place a medium bowl and your beaters from your electric mixer in the freezer for 10 minutes (this helps the whipped cream stiffen faster)
  2. Pour all ingredients into the chilled bowl and start to beat.
  3. Start off on low and gradually work your way up to high. It will be done when it is the consistency of ..well…whipped cream.
  4. Don’t over beat.
Notes

The whipped cream makes several servings.
The Nutella Hot Chocolate itself only serves one.

NUTELLA HOT CHOCOLATE
1 serving

1 cup milk (I use skim)
2 1/2 Tbsp Nutella
1 Tbsp Cocoa
Tiny pinch of salt

In a small sauce pan over medium heat, whisk all ingredients together until well blended and hot.
Pour in a cup and top with homemade whipped cream and shaved chocolate.

HOMEMADE WHIPPED CREAM

1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
2 Tbsp Sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Place a medium bowl and your beaters from your electric mixer in the freezer for 10 minutes (this helps the whipped cream stiffen faster)
Pour all ingredients into the chilled bowl and start to beat. Start off on low and gradually work your way up to high. It will be done when it is the consistency of ..well…whipped cream. Don’t over beat.

You don’t see anything wrong with the Whipped Cream/Hot chocolate ratio, do you? No? I didn’t think so.

  22. I just bought a jar of Nutella last week. Never tasted it before. I know it's good, but wasn't sure what I would use it for. Now I know. Anyway to work some liquor into that drink for a little night-cappie sort of treat? Oh, trust me, I'll think of something. . .

  23. OK…I couldn't stand it. As soon as I posted, I had to make this hot chocolate and I found the perfect liquor go-with . . .a drizzle of Grand Marnier over the whipped cream — fabulous! Talk about gilding the lily. Leslie, please don't think of anything else.

  24. squirt or dollop on as much whipped cream as possible, i say. as it melts, add more. 🙂

  25. Oh my goodness! I'm so excited to try this! My husband just found out that he's NOT allergic to nuts after 25 years of being told he was, so he has recently found the joy of Nutella =)

  26. It's cold and rainy here today… I sure wish I had a HUGE mug of this nutella hot chocolate.

  27. Best idea ever – love it 🙂

  28. How are you liking this cold weather we're having in Sunny FL? Perfect for a cup of your nutella hot chocolate. 🙂

  48. I’m hosting a Cookie Exchange in a few weeks and got online searching for a hot chocolate recipe and pretty sure I just found it with this recipe! I can not wait to try it! My question is – I’ll need to make this for about 20 people. Can someone help me with how I need to multiply the ingredients for that many please and keep the taste? And also, about how many servings are in the homemade whipped cream? I would love to offer it to those interested….thanks for any and all help!

    • Alicia,

      Thanks for your question.
I have only made my Nutella Hot Chocolate in a single serving…
If you are having 20 people over, assuming that not EVERY single person will drink it, you should be ok with 1 gallon of milk, as 1 gallon has 16 cups.
      40 tablespoon Nutella..which is about 2 1/2 cups Nutella.
Use about 1 1/4 cup cocoa
and a few pinches of salt.
Again, keep in mind that I am estimating on the amounts, I just 20X the recipe written.

As for the whipped cream, I cant give you a serving size, because it all depends on how much you put in each drink.
I would use maybe 1 pint of heavy whipping cream, 1/4 cup sugar and t teaspoon vanilla. You can always make more if needed.

Have fun at your cookie party!

  49. OMG. Found this on Pinterest. Love this!! Since my hubby got the ginormous two pack of Nutella from Costco, I have been searching for lots of Nutella recipes. This one is awesome. And even though it’s 80 degrees here today in Texas, I’m drinking it anyway!! Thanks for the recipe 🙂

I'm not worried about what little caffeine there is in hot chocolate, it's something like 14 mg per packet. (For a reference, most coffee has like 200 mg per cup).
