Do you have a KitchenAid stand mixer?

If so, then you know what a P.I.A it is to have to scrape down your bowl a million times when making anything in it. It’s not a design flaw of the KitchenAid, it is just the nature of the beast of baking. Scraping the bowl is a pet peeve of mine. So when I saw this product I knew I had to try it. It was going to solve all of my “scraping of the bowl” worries.

Yeah, The SideSwipe Spatula Mixer Blade pretty much rocked my world.

The first time I used it, I made a cake and thick buttercream frosting.
Normally when I make a cake, I have to babysit my mixer and stop the mixing process to scrape down the bowl several times to make sure all of the ingredients are scraped up from the bottom and the sides.

Well, NO MORE.

I “installed” the SideSwipe just like you would any attachment on the KitchenAid. Easy Peasy.

Threw my ingredients in the bowl and turned on my machine. As the SideSwipe went around, each of its fins scraped the sides and bottom of my KitchenAids bowl. Are you kidding??? No I am not.

IT WAS DREAMY.

It was hard to catch a photo of its glorious action. You can see a video here.
You see the part of the mixer bowl where the chocolate batter is swiped off the bowl? This happens all over the bowl as the blade spins around. The is even a fin on the bottom of the blade that gets the bottom of the bowl as well!!

I did not have to stop my mixer one time during the mixing process.
Hallelujah!!!!

Now you know, I want to share my joy with you.

So yes indeed, I am giving one away.

Are you getting sick of seeing all of my Crescent Creations?
Ok, before I get into these, I busted out laughing out loud when I was uploading these photos. It looks like I created some sort of “crescent roll monster” with the 2 blueberries on the top.
Tell me you don’t see it??????

I mean look…they totally look like twins

The Geico Money thingy

Anyway, now that I totally ruined the photo for myself, lets talk about amazing.

Yeah, these are delightful. Easy too. They would be perfect on your Easter Brunch Table.

The inside is warm and creamy with sweet blueberries and the icing had a slight lemon flavor that goes perfect with the fruit.

Stunning, isn’t it?
I made this beautiful cake for my sons 9th {sigh}Birthday.

Usually he gets a themed cake, like the soccer cake or the Sponge Bob cake, but I just was too busy this year to get all fancy for a more in-depth cake, so this is what he got.
He thought it was cool, and that’s all that matters.

I posted a photo of it on Instagram (follow me at Hungryhousewife) and Facebook and everyone loved it. I got emails requesting a tutorial and y’all know I aim to please.
Pretty sure I got all the tutorial bases covered, a video, on the cake and just icing. I hope you all find it useful!

And if you are short on time and don’t feel like watching the video, here is a photo tutorial.
What you will need

Crumb Coated Cake

Pastry Bag

#12 Tip

Icing, your choice of color

Off-set spatula or small spoon

A messily crumb coated cake

For the Ombre effect, take graduating color frosting with a #12 tip.

Pipe a vertical line of icing dots. If doing the Ombre effect, start with the lightest icing first.

Place the off-set spatula in the middle of the dot, press down and drag.

Continue around the cake

****I forgot to show how to “end” the cake. When you get to the end, just pipe the final vertical line of dots and don’t swipe. This will be the back of your cake. It really is not even that noticeable.*****

And if you want to see it off the cake..I got that for you too (not the ombre effect)!

I would die without my Sonicare toothbrush.

Ok, so maybe I am being a little over dramatic.

My teeth would fall out without my Sonicare. Still too much?

Well what ever, I love love love my toothbrush.
Seriously, you know that clean feeling you have when you leave the dentist? Imagine that every time you brush your teeth. It’s dreamy.
I CAN.NOT ever go back to a normal toothbrush. I went out of town recently and forgot my toothbrush and had to use one of those lame “do it yourself” toothbrushes and I felt like I had garbage mouth. Nasty.

They even have them for kids, my off spring love theirs.

So if you are in the market for a new grill brusher, I HIGHLY recommend the Sonicare!

***Remember, Favorite Things Thursday are NOT sponsored posts, just products I LOVE***

And the winner to my Scharffen Burger Chocolate giveaway is

Welcome to MOOOOOOOOE’s! Did you hear it as you read it?

I love the warm welcome you get every time you step into a Moe’s Southwest Grill.
Have you been to Moe’s? Yes, well then you know the deliciousness that awaits you as you walk in the door.
No? Well hop on over to Moe’s and see if there is one in your area..then run run run and go get yourself a homewrecker!

I had the wonderful opportunity to travel to Moe’s Southwest grill in Atlanta and hang out with the Moe’s crew and 8 other bloggers.

You might go to a restaurant and love the food, but lets be honest, do you really research the history or what lengths the company goes through to have a successful restaurant?? Nah, Probably not.

I love when companies care about the consumer, and that is Moe’s all the way around.
After hanging out with some Moe’s Big wigs, I realized that they not only serve delicious, high quality food, but they are good people. Like really cool, laid back people..my kind of people I like to hang with.
For instance, lets take the music they play in all the stores, take a listen next time you stop in to Moe’s. They only play music of dead artists. That’s pretty cool in my opinion.
Oh, and try to find a microwave in a Moe’s, nope, you won’t find one. They don’t believe in nuking fresh food.
Moe’s believes in “delicious simplicity”, it’s their way of being committed to serving on the highest quality ingredients 100% of the time at 100% of their locations!
The chicken they use is all natural, cage free, breast meat. The pork is steroid free, grain fed pulled pork(my fav). Their tender meat is 100% grass fed ground sirloin. And if you are of the vegetarian variety, they even have organic tofu.
No trans fats will be found and the next one is a biggie for me..NO MSG( a huge migraine trigger for me).

Moe’s made these custom chefs jackets for us. Loved them!

We got the opportunity to try some of the food they are testing as new menu items.
OH.MY.GOD. I can’t begin to tell you how AMAZINGLY amazing (yes, I went to school) the Cuban Quesadilla is.
The photo does not do the Cuban Quesadilla justice.

Fun was also had by all. We were split up into groups and had a salsa showdown!

And we also go the chance to get behind the line and make and roll our own burritos. Let me tell ya, that’s hard work.

We also got to have some non Moe’s related fun.
They whisked us off to The World of Coca-Cola.

I had been there a few years ago, but they completely re did the whole facility.

Small things are generally cute, with the exception of small zits and fire ants.
Small balls are cute. And when they are covered in chocolate, that just puts them over the top.
Well then let’s add some pound cake, Jell-O pudding mix and banana.
We are now officially exploding with delicious cuteness.
These would be perfect as a little snack on your Easter table. The kids will eat them up. You might even pop a few in your mouth too.

Speaking of Easter, when do kids stop believing in the Easter bunny? My 9 year old and almost 7 year old are still on the bunny bandwagon. Makes me sad to think that this might be the last year for my eldest.

I didn’t write this recipe, so it’s only fair to send you to its originator. I make it exactly per their directions.

A few years ago, I got off my wallet, went to Williams-Sonoma and bought some knives, very expensive knives.
Then a few months later,my sister and I took our Mom to the Metropolitan Cooking show to have lunch with Paula Deen ( yeah, we are good daughters) oh and we meet her scrumptious boys too!
At the show my sister bought some knives, Cutco Knives. I had heard of them in the past, but didn’t give them a second thought because the name sounded cheap and I thought they looked chincy. My sister claimed she loved them. I used hers and fell in love, but I had just bought some expensive German knives, so I couldn’t justify a new purchase.
Fast forward a few years….. someone talked me into having a Cutco rep come to my house( did y’all know I am a pushover?) I said , “sure, but I am not buying anything.”

Anyway, I was so impressed by the knives I wanted to buy the whole shebang! However I couldn’t afford the whole shebang. The only thing I could afford was 4 steak knives(because I so desperately needed them) and some kitchen scissors. Wait, did you hear the tiny violin music? hmm.

So if anyone wants to fork over the OVER $3k to me so I can buy the Cutco Ultimate Set ,feel free to contact me…I gladly accept Paypal.

I love love love these knives and scissors. The steak knives will cut through the toughest piece of meat like it is a buttery filet mignon. And the scissors will cut through anything, even bones (no, not people bones).
If your product ever gets dull, they will actually come to your home and sharpen your knives for you and they have a FOREVER guarantee. Yeah, that’s pretty awesome!
And they are made in the USA. Thats a big deal for me.

So if you are in the market for a new knife set and you are willing to spend some money…I highly recommend Cutco!

**Remember, Favorite Things Thursday ARE NOT sponsored posts, just products I love**

And the winner to my Red Gold Giveaway is

Did you know I LOVE being a food blogger. It gives me a voice. A voice to tell people about wonderful things.

Companies look to me to get the word out about wonderful promotions that you might not otherwise know about.

Johnsonville Sausage invited me to be a part of their Johnsonville Kitchens Community Blogging Panel and to be an ambassador for their products. You know I jumped at the opportunity. I mean, who doesn’t love Johnsonville sausage? ( well, maybe vegetarians). Did you know they have 10 different varieties of Italian Sausage? You can view them all here.

Are you creative with sausage? Do you have a mouth watering recipe that incorporates Johnsonville Italian Sausage?

Go and enter the Johnsonville Italian Inspiration Recipe Contest. It’s a photo recipe contest, so make sure your photos are decent. The prize is a culinary trip for 2 to Abruzzo, Italy! So run on over to their facebook page and enter!

Johnsonville sent me some goodies to create a recipe. I had the hardest times trying to choose just one of them that was swirling in my mind.
I went with easy. Baseball has been keeping me busy, so time doesn’t seem to be on my side these days.
So here is my easy recipe that incorporates the delicious Johnsonville Italian 4 Cheese sausage.
You know why I choose the 4 cheese variety? When I was a kid, I loved loved loved those hot dogs with the “cheese” inside them. Oh, man I loved those. I used to eat them uncooked. The thought makes my stomach turn these days.
Anyhooooo, here is the recipe. Everyone enjoyed it. It’s easy, full of flavor and it fills you up!

I can not express to you how much I love these LorAnn Bakery Emulsion flavorings. I use them as much as I can.

They are magical.
Throw some in your boxed cake mix and none will know it’s a boxed cake!
The Princess Cake & Cookie gives ordinary sugar cookies a little something special.
I use the Butter Vanilla or the Buttery Sweet Dough in my pie crust to give the crust an extra depth of flavor…sooooo good.

These are the only 3 flavors I have been able to find locally, but they make soooo many more, like coconut, red velvet and coffee. I haven’t tried those yet, but I bet they are magical too!

If you run across these, BUY them. They will take your baking to the next level!!
