Pancake Sausage Bites 006

Sometimes you just need to fry something. It’s a necessary evil.
Sure frying isn’t good for you, well neither is picking your nose, but I see people do that all the time. We will call it even.

I needed to get my brain working overtime because I wanted to created a recipe for the Johnsonville Wake Up To Johnsonville Photo Recipe Contest.

My husband might have had a little influence on this one. He always comes up with some whacked out food ideas. He wanted these on a stick, but the sausage links are just too thin for that, so I decided on the balls.

They are mighty tasty, mighty tasty indeed! Certainly not your everyday breakfast meal, but they sure are a nice delight every once in a while….you know, when you need a little oil in your life.

You can enter the Johnsonville Wake Up To Johnsonville Contest too.
Go to their Facebook Page, upload your Johnsonville Sausage Breakfast creation and you will be entered for the grand prize of an 11 piece set of professional cookware from ScanPan and a years supply of Johnsonville Sausage. Hurry, Contest ends May 13th!

Well, it’s offical The Hungry Housewife turned 4 yesterday and I have a wonderful giveaway for you.

Have you heard of the Blendtec Blender. It’s the blender of all blenders. The Creme de la creme in the blender world.

Blendtec

Forget about breaking out the big food processor, the Blendtec does it all.
It crushes ice into snow( and even has an ice crushing-Guarantee ) with its 1560 watts of power.

The pitcher is HUGE, nearly 3 quarts. That’s a lot of margaritas if your into that sorta thing {cough}…

One thing that I immediately noticed with the Blendtec is that I didn’t have to shove a big spoon into the blender to make sure everything was getting blended. My old blender used to get this air pocket above the blade and it would never blend…it was very VERY frustrating. I have made 9 smoothies so far with my Blendtec and never once had that happen, when it happened EVERY time with my old one.
Another thing I love about the Blendtec is the Blend Cycles. I obviously use the “Smoothie” button everyday. It blends everything perfectly and I don’t have to pre cut my fruit. I could throw a whole apple in there with no problem if I wanted to.

So what am I getting at here? The Blendtec is a superior blender. Far more superior than another blender I have ever had, and I have had several brands in the past.
They are so confident in their product that they offer a 7 year warranty. Good stuff people.

Here is a horribly  shot video. My iPhone is giving me a fit, so please forgive the quality.
Oh and have you ever seen any of the “Will It Blend” videos??? They are great, you can watch them here.

Also, go check out the Blendtec recipe section..here

Yes, I am aware that I said Flaxseed Oil. Nope I added Ground Flaxseed, NOT Flaxseed oil.

GIVEAWAY TIME!!!

I bet you are dying for a Blendtec? Well, one of you will win one!! WAAAhhhooooo.

I have been crazy busy with deadlines and recipe development. Am I complaining? No way Jose! Being busy with food is an awesome thing.

I thought I would share some cookies I made a while ago for a beach themed basked for a silent drawing at my kids school. Adorable I say. Very summer-y.

Oh and guess what? I think Pinterest hates me. I have been getting so may emails, telling me “I can’t pin anything from your site”

Super great. I tried to contact Pinterest, but nada. My request keeps going to the “resolved” status. Ummmm-hello. It’s not resolved Mr. Pinterest Man(or woman).

The Best Steak In Town

I was invited to a fun event here in Tampa……

Kingsford/Walmart Event 008

The Walmart choice Steak Challenge presented by Kingsford® Charcoal and Coca-Cola.
Two local chefs, Chef Eric Lackey of FlameStone American Grill and Chef Chad Johnson of SideBern’s, went head to head in a cut throat competition grilling the new Choice Steak over Kingsford® Charcoal.
The winner of the competition will get to go onto New York on May 22nd for the main competition.

Kingsford/Walmart Event 018

Chef Lackey, Chad from 94.9, Chef Johnson

The two got their Kingsford® Charcoal ready to go.

Kingsford/Walmart Event 012

Did you know that in 2011, Americans purchased more than 1 BILLION pounds of charcoal???? That’s 2,222 times the weight of the Statue of Liberty.
I am embarrassed to say that I have never cooked on charcoal. I know, it’s sad, isn’t it? If anyone wants to donate The Big Green Egg to me, I would much appreciate it..you know, for recipe development and all.
Kingsford/Walmart Event 011

Kingsford/Walmart Event 013

Kingsford/Walmart Event 015

Kingsford/Walmart Event 031

Kingsford/Walmart Event 010

And the steaks came out. Are they not BEAUTIFUL? I mean, look at that perfect marbling! Only one in five steaks are good enough to call Walmart Choice Premium Beef, which has been certified by the USDA for quality. Shoppers who are not 100% satisfied with their steaks can bring back their receipts for a complete refund!!!

Kingsford/Walmart Event 020

And the grilling began!

Kingsford/Walmart Event 027

Can you taste the delicious-ness? My mouth is watering thinking about both competitors steaks!

Kingsford/Walmart Event 029

When each chef was done, the steaks were cut and color coordinated by tooth picks. Everyone got to sample both steaks. Whichever steak you liked the best, you threw that colored toothpick into a container.
And the votes, were counted…very scientifically

Kingsford/Walmart Event 032

And the winner was BLUE and that was Chef Lackey of FlameStone
Kingsford/Walmart Event 033

He did bring quite a very large entourage…just saying’ 🙂

Favorite Things Thursday

What up peeps.

You still liking Favorite Things Thursday? Hope so.

This weeks product I have been using for as long as I can remember. Probably for 15-20 years.

I have long hair, and there is nothing worse than getting out of the shower and having wet hair laying on my back. Its cold, and the water drips right down my butt…not pleasant.

So way back when, I used to use a regular towel. However, those are just big and bulky and you can’t really move around that much because it will fall off.

I discovered the Aquis Super Absorbent Hair Towel. I use the Turban Style. I think I originally found it at Bed Bath and Beyond.

It’s FAB-U-LOUS.

After the shower, you hang your head and hair upside down, wrap the towel around your head, flip back up and secure it on your head with the button and hook.

It doesn’t move or fall off  and because it is microfiber, it dramatically cuts your hair drying time in half if not more!

Oh, and they last FOREVER. I think I have bought 2 maybe 3 over the years.

Here’s me in mine. I am totally rockin’ the hair turban look! Yep, I look so glamorous, no make up and all.
Pffffft, I hardly ever wear make up. It’s not that I don’t need it, I just don’t feel like it. I suppose you can call it lazy.

IMG_1241

So sexy, huh? Oh, well, you take me as you get me. Just keeping it real peeps.
Oh and the strategic placement of my hand? Yep, covering up a big zit. You really didn’t need to see that.

You can buy them at Bed Bath and Beyond here or they can also be found on amazon.

And the winner of my Side Swipe Spatula Mixer Blade is

Sour Cream Dip

Sour Cream Dip

If you crave “salty”, I got your “salty” right here.

I am not a big fan of prepackage dips. I don’t know, something just always seems to taste a bit off.

I don’t usually buy potato chips. Only for special occasions and parties. Not because I don’t LOVE them, it’s just my will power issue that we all are well aware of. I am sure I would sit down and eat a whole bag without even thinking of it. So my whole theory is, that if I don’t buy it, I can’t eat it.

Soooo, when I do have a big ol’ bag of chips in my house, I have to make a nice creamy dip.

There is nothing fancy, and no special ingredients in this. I am sure you have it all in your house right now.

So if you have chips and are craving a super yummy and easy dip, well here ya go……..

Lemon and Garlic Shrimp

Lemon Garlic Shrimp

It’s quite sad that seafood doesn’t make it to this site very often.
You see, my household is split in half. Half likes seafood and half does not.
My dear husband does not eat anything from the water. Absurd, that’s what I say about the whole situation. No shrimp, no crab, no lobster,no tuna, not even alligator. Oh and he doesn’t like mushrooms either….that’s a whole other issue.
So, that is why seafood is sparse up in here. My apologies.

But here is a super duper quick and easy shrimp recipe. 15 minute marinade and 4 minute cook time. I told you, quick and easy.

SideSwipe Blade Giveaway

Do you have a KitchenAid stand mixer?

If so, then you know what a P.I.A it is to have to scrape down your bowl a million times when making anything in it. It’s not a design flaw of the KitchenAid, it is just the nature of the beast of baking. Scraping the bowl is a pet peeve of mine. So when I saw this product I knew I had to try it. It was going to solve all of my “scraping of the bowl” worries.

IMG_4425

Yeah, The SideSwipe Spatula Mixer Blade pretty much rocked my world.

The first time I used it, I made a cake and thick buttercream frosting.
Normally when I make a cake, I have to babysit my mixer and stop the mixing process to scrape down the bowl several times to make sure all of the ingredients are scraped up from the bottom and the sides.

Well, NO MORE.

I “installed” the SideSwipe just like you would any attachment on the KitchenAid. Easy Peasy.

Threw my ingredients in the bowl and turned on my machine. As the SideSwipe went around, each of its fins scraped the sides and bottom of my KitchenAids bowl. Are you kidding??? No I am not.

IT WAS DREAMY.

It was hard to catch a photo of its glorious action. You can see a video here.
You see the part of the mixer bowl where the chocolate batter is swiped off the bowl? This happens all over the bowl as the blade spins around. The is even a fin on the bottom of the blade that gets the bottom of the bowl as well!!
IMG_4444

I did not have to stop my mixer one time during the mixing process.
Hallelujah!!!!

Now you know, I want to share my joy with you.

So yes indeed, I am giving one away.

PLEASE only enter this giveaway if you have a KitchenAid Mixer, plan on getting one or know someone who has one that you would like to gift them this wonderful product.

They sell 3 models of the SideSwipe Spatula Mixer Blade. You can purchase one for yourself here
