10 Super Bowl Foods

Thought I would share some yummy food that would be perfect for the Super Bowl…wait, am I going to get sued for saying “Super Bowl”?

First I thought I would share something all parents would understand.
This was the evening talk Saturday night…

My son(almost 9 years old)- “How do ladies have Β babies, where did I come from?”

Me-(caught completely off guard)- We bought you in Mexico.

Son- “Thats weird, well then why don’t I speak Spanish?”

Me-(tongue tied) – “Um, I dunno, go ask your Dad”

Yep, thats how the “talk” went. I surrendered into my shell like a scared little turtle.
I went to my Facebook friends for help. They basically said that I better have the talk now before someone else told him.
So that is what I did…the next day.

We went to get gas and I choose the longest car wash. As we pulled into the car wash, I turned around and asked him, “So, do you really want to know where babies come from?” He said yes.
I told him the basics. You could tell he was totally uncomfortable. He kept talking about the soap on the windows. He though the whole thing was gross. I asked if he had any questions and he said
NO!
I suppose thats good for now, I am sure more questions will follow. Ahhhh, the joys of parenthood!

oh my!!! those southwest egg rolls look amazing. That and the beer dip & I’d be set for Super Bowl! How funny are you? MEXICO?! hahaha. It’s talks like that, that scare me to death to have kids!

  3. I put together a similar list! Your treats look delicious!
I love that you told your son you bought him in Mexico πŸ™‚

  4. Haha I loved your conversation with your son! Also loved every single one of your super bowl recipes…even though I don’t watch football I feel like having a party just for the food!

  5. Oh my goodness – I’m dying for the day that my children grow up. My daughter just turned 3, so hopefully I have a few years until “the talk!!”

If you are making these for the Super Bowl, can I come to your house?? πŸ™‚

  6. Lol what an adorable story … I will totally be the kind of mom that says their kids were bought too. I just couldn’t think about explaining how women have babies to my kids :$ – – I have LOTS of time though, to come up with a fool-proof plan.

On another note – – great recipe round-up!! The crabies sound so yummy πŸ™‚

  7. How funny! I am dreading the talk but I know it’s coming soon.

Thanks for all of the tasty Super Bowl ideas!

  8. Those antipasto kebobs will be on our party menu. Love those, and especially since I can make them ahead and hold them in the fridge. The beer cheese dip is tempting, too. Yum. Great recipes!

  9. I am dreading that converstaion. During my last pregnancy while in line for frozen yogurt a boy asked me how the baby got in me. I just looked at his mom and said this is all you! She got totally red and flustered. I can only imagine what I am going to do when that subject comes up in my house.

  10. I’m dreading that talk as well! Here’s hoping they don’t ask until they’re 25 πŸ™‚

Loving the recipes! Can’t decide which is my fave!

  11. LOVE EVERYTHING! So much that I just linked to this in my post of Super Bowl recipes. πŸ™‚
